Osage Bluff Fishing Report 7/2/20

Updated: Jul 30, 2020

Happy 4th of July. Lots of stuff going on in the lakes area this weekend. The weatherman is calling for good weather so come down and enjoy all the festivities. Osage Bluff will be doing their fireworks display tomorrow night July 3rd at the marina at dark. Lots of goodies in the parking lot. The city of Warsaw will be doing their fireworks July 4th at Drake Harbor. When in the area this weekend please use extra caution on the highways and on the water and please remember social distancing.

We did have another 2" of rain this week in the lakes area. Even with that the lake is in great shape. The water in our area is almost clear. The COE has slowed the flow through the dam way down so it will be interesting to see if we get a little rise out of all the rain but the lake is at a great level for fishing.

LAKE LEVEL: 707.7

WATER TEMP: 80 deg

WATER CLARITY: Light Stain.

CRAPPIE: There are still lots of big crappie coming in. Tree rows on the flats are the most popular right now. 15' to 17' with fish holding about 7'. Minnows are the best with hard woods holding the most fish. The bluff banks in 25'+ water are good with minnows when fished about 15' down in the cedars or brush piles. The brush piles the conservation dept put in on the points are also good. 15' of water right on top the piles has been working with minnows.

BASS: For this time of the year the bass fishing has been good. Big sinko's fished weightless off the secondary points has been very good. The top water action on the flats in the backs of the creeks early in the am. on buzz baits is good. Crank baits off the main lake points in 6' to 10' of water is also producing nice fish.

WHITES & HYBRIDS: The humps have been the most productive for white bass. Spoons fished in 15' on top the humps is the best. The south end of KK Island and Point O 3 are good. Live bait has been the best for hybrids on the Pommie flats with a few fish starting to hit Sassy Shad in the evenings.

CATFISH: Jugs and rod and reel fishing is good right now foe blues and channels. Fish the flats in 10' to 15' of water with cut bait. Baits set between 8' and 12' seem to work the best. Trot lines set on the current breaks on the points in 20' of water are working with cut bait set about 8' to 10'. It looks to me like

WALLEYE: Trolling deep running crank baits over the humps in 12' of water is producing a few walleye. Nite crawler rigs in the saddles in 15' are working when the sun gets higher in the sky. Main lake pee gravel points next to channel swings are producing a few walleye on deep running crank baits in about 8' of water.

That's the report for this week. We here at Osage Bluff Marina and Motel would like to wish everyone a enjoyable and safe 4th of July. If you are in the area stop in and enjoy the festivities with us.

Till next week

Tommy
