Osage Bluff Fishing Report 6/25/20

Updated: Jul 30, 2020

Another beautiful week here on the lake. The weather has been fantastic and the fishing has been good. They are calling for a slight chance of rain this weekend but it looked kind of iffy to me so I guess we will make the best of it. The COE has been running water every day and the lake is getting close to normal. Every place I fished this week the water color was perfect. So if you are looking for some good fishing action now is a good time to be on Truman.

LAKE LEVEL:           707.7

WATER TEMP:         84 deg.

WATER CLARITY:    Light stained

CRAPPIE: The crappie fishing is good here on Truman with lots of nice fish coming in. Brush piles in our area have been productive this week. Best piles are in 15' to 20' of water with fish holding right on top the piles. Minnows have been the best bait. Drift fishing the creek channels has also been good with minnows. Drift the edge of the channels next to the timber in 20' with bait about 12'. Bluff banks in 25'+ are good with minnows in the cedars about 12' down.

BASS: Lots of bass are being caught now. Secondary points in the creeks in 5' to 8' of water with creature baits has been very good. The top water action has been good in the early morning on the flats in tree rows. Buzz baits seem to be working the best.

WHITES & HYBRIDS: The white bass fishing is still going strong on spoons. Most of the humps are holding fish. Best depth is 15' to 18' The weir in front of the dam is good.  KK Island has been very productive. Live bait fishing for hybrids  seems to be the best way to catch hybrids. Either shad or perch fished under a bobber along the edge of the channels has produced some good hybrids this week.

CATFISH: Rod and reel fishing and jugs have been hot this week for cat fish. The flats in 12' to 15' of water close to channel swings fished with cut bait is producing nice blues and channels. Trot lines on the points close to channel swings in 15' to 20' of water with baits set about 10' are also working. Cut bait has been the best. With the water temp in the 80's lines and jugs have to be run more often so you don't loose your fish.

WALLEYE: We had a pretty good run on walleye this week. Trolling the humps on the low light hours was working. Best depth about 15'. When the sun gets up switch to a crawler rig and fish the saddles in 15'+. With the clearing water I think the walleye bite should get stronger.

With the 4th of July a week away we are getting ready for all the fun. We will be doing fireworks here at Osage Bluff Marina on Friday night July 3 so put it on your calendar for the best show on the lake. You can contact us at Osage Bluff Marina 660-438-2939 or Osage Bluff Motel at 660-438-2891.

Till next week
