We had lots of rain last night, just short of 1 1/2" which we needed. Some of the creeks dirtied up this morning but as dry as we have been we didn't get as much as you would think. The main arms are in good shape. The weather for the rest of the week is looking good with no rain and temps in the 70's so this should continue to warm the water. The fishing has been real good this week. We are in the last week of turkey season and the birds are still working pretty good. Hopefully the rain we are getting will help the mushrooms out. Not finding any on the ridges but the lake front has been fairly good. Look where the flood line ends and the green grass starts.
LAKE LEVEL: 706.10
WATER TEMP: 61 deg.
WATER CLARITY: STAINED
CRAPPIE: The spawn is on !!!!!! Lots of males coming out of 2' to 3' of water. Most of the little pockets are holding fish. A jig and bobber set about 16" or a road runner are the best. There are a few females starting to come in but there are still lots of fish in 6' to 10' of water in the brush piles. With the way the weather looks for the rest of the week I look for the females to start going shallow. The fishing is good so if you are looking for some good crappie action now is the time.
BASS: There are some males starting to move to the banks and build nests. ' to 4' of water seems to be the best. Almost any plastic will catch fish. Lizards, Beavers, do nothing worms and Chomper's are all working. With the new moon on the 15th I look for the females to hit the bank.
WHITES & HYBRIDS: There are a few whites coming out of the backs of the creeks on Rooster Tails now. Look for creeks with lots of shad flipping. It's getting time to start checking the humps around KK Island with spoons to.
CATFISH: Lots of blues. It doesn't matter if you are rod and reeling, jugging or running trot lines the cats are doing good. The flats about 1/2 way back in the creeks in 10' to 12' of water with baits set about 4' is good. Also the main lake flats doing the same thing has been producing some big blues. I'm still waiting on the flat heads and hope next week will be the week.
