The rains came and left and we didn't get a lot. The rest of this week looks very good. I am looking for lots of good things to happen about this weekend.
With the rain and warm temps the mushrooms should pop The lake should warm quickly moving the fish to the banks and the turkeys should continue to gobble.
The lake is about 6" low so you might want to run with a little extra caution.
LAKE LEVEL: 705.9
WATER TEMP: 55 deg.
WATER CLARITY: Stained
Right now the fishing report is about the same as it was last week with the exception of a few fish moving in shallow way up the lake. Most of the fish going shallow are all males. This weeks report is what I am looking for to happen Fri. or Sat.
CRAPPIE: Look about 1/2 way back in the creeks in the pockets. Fish a jig on a bobber set about 16" or a Road runner in about 3' of water. Also check the clumps of brush in the backs of the creeks in 3' to 6' with a jig, look for the fish to be holding about 2' to 3' down. You will have to move the jig slow with the water still warming. Look along the edge of the creek channels in 8' to 12' for the big females staging to come in. We have had a few limits of males come in out of the pockets in the creeks out of about 4' of water in the last couple days so this is a start.
BASS: Right now the secondary points are working. Look in 5' to 10' of water. Crank baits and a rogue are working along with spinner baits along lay downs. A jig and frog fished off chunk rock pockets in 4' to 8' of water will be another good choice. If you find a creek with shad working in the back end a spinner bait will work here also.
WHITES: No report on whites this week.
CATFISH: The cat fishing on Truman is very good now, getting bait is still a little tough. It doesn't matter if you are drift fishing rod and reel or jugs the flats are the place to be. 8' to 12' of water with baits running from 4' to 8' is best. Cut shad is the best with hot dogs working on jugs. Trot lines are starting to work off the flat points in 12' to 15' with baits set about 8'. Shad are working the best.
That's what is going on now and I'm really looking for things to get going by this weekend. We still have a few seasonal stalls left so if we can help you out you can reach us at Osage Bluff Marina and Motel 660-438-2939 and the motel at 660-438-2891. There is also the club house at the motel for groups great for reunions and banquets. It sleeps 50 and has a full kitchen. There is also a game room. The banquet room is great for business meetings. For info you can contact the motel at 660-438-2891.
Till next week
Tommy
